WordPress Readiness Planner for Education

Prepare a WordPress project for your school, college or university. Describe the intended use, control and recovery requirements, then get a practical brief for your technical team and suppliers.

Free to use, without registration. Answers stay in this page until you choose to send an enquiry. Refreshing or leaving the page clears them; downloading saves a copy on your device.

Build your WordPress brief

Complete every field. ‘Not decided’ and ‘Not known’ are valid answers: the plan will identify the decisions still needed. Describe requirements only; leave out credentials, personal records and confidential information.

1. Purpose and scale

Choose the main use. Include other uses in the requirements box.

Existing sites need an inventory before changes are planned.

Count sites, not pages. Use your best planning estimate, from 1 to 100,000.

Include students, editors and administrators who need access. This is not a hosting capacity assessment.

2. Control and delivery model

Independent installation and central network administration have different implications.

Choose ‘Not decided’ if you want to compare. Selecting a model does not establish that it is suitable.

Confirm institutional ownership, DNS permissions and any current provider restrictions.

3. Recovery and requirements

A backup schedule alone does not demonstrate a successful restore.

Include plugin/theme names, licensing, identity, assessment, deadlines and any unknowns. ‘Not decided’ is fine. Maximum 600 characters.

This plan uses your answers only. It does not scan a website, test plugins, verify backup coverage, certify security or provide a quote. Platform availability, licensing, migration, support and costs require assessment and an agreed scope. An unknown or untested item remains open.

WordPress readiness questions

What the planner can help you prepare, and what needs a separate review.

Does the planner inspect or scan my WordPress site?

No. It creates planning guidance from your answers. A professional audit needs a separately agreed scope and appropriate access; this tool does not discover vulnerabilities or verify plugins and backups.

Will it tell us that Multisite is definitely suitable?

No. It flags decisions about administration, plugins, domains and recovery. Test a representative workflow and confirm the proposed hosting and responsibilities before selecting a delivery model.

Can we use the planner for student coursework?

Yes. Choose teaching or both uses. The checklist then includes student/lecturer access, assessment evidence, resits, retention and a representative recovery scenario.

Do we need to send an enquiry to get our brief?

No. Create and download the text brief without registration. It stays in the page until you download it or choose to send an enquiry; leaving or refreshing clears the page's answers.

Does a completed plan include a hosting quote?

No. The plan is a requirements brief. Capacity, software, migration, support, availability and costs are assessed and agreed separately.
